How to choose your wedding photographer . . . .

When it comes time to choose a wedding photographer, where do you start? Most likely you will have a budget. Wedding photographers can range in price from $500 up to $10,000! If you are on a smaller budget then I would recommend that you look at the photographer’s work and reviews. Choose at least 3 that you really like and meet with them. Most brides I meet with decide they will go with me right away. You should comfortable and confident that the photographer is going to provide the photographs you are looking for on your wedding day.

I am flexible and reliable. I will arrive at the wedding venue early and stay as late as you need me to. I have found that I am photographing most weddings start to finish for about 5-6 hours. I also highly advise you not to shop by price. Don’t go with a photographer because they are the cheapest. If you are on a set budget and you like their work see if they are willing to work with you.

I have heard too many unfortunate stories about brides and grooms who have used family or friends who are photographers to photograph their wedding. Of course this will save a lot of money but I do not recommend it for several reasons. One is if they are a member friend or family they will want to enjoy your wedding and thus may not spend as much time photographing everything. Also, if they are not a true wedding photographer then they won’t be able to capture the day in the way that you had hoped.

I am always open to suggestions of certain shots you would like taken. I have a list of shots that have names to be sure key shots are taken. Here are a few examples, “hide under the veil”, “walk, talk and laugh”, “chin on shoulder”, “rings on flowers”. I want to have fun with the wedding party, bride and groom and family members. Your wedding day is on the of most important days of your entire lives. You will be so happy and satisfied to have memorable and beautiful wedding images.
